JACKIE E. GRIFFIN

M.Ed., LPC

Jackie Griffin is a Licensed Professional Counselor who has experience and loves working with middle school age students and older, gifted students, as well as women, and couples. She has experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, grief, self-esteem, PTSD, trauma, spirituality, life transitions, and relational problems. She is passionate about helping individuals, couples and families to become more wholly connected with themselves and others.

Common presenting problems include, but are not limited to: noncompliance, hyperactivity, mood swings, anger issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, parenting issues, and dealing with life stressors including bullies and divorce. She often also works with adults who are experiencing relationship distress, grief, depression, and anxiety.

Jackie’s approach is a collaborative, strengths-based therapeutic approach to help clients acknowledge the various unique contexts which impact their lives, connect with their strengths, and learn new ways to live in wholeness. She often uses an eclectic approach that is adjusted to benefit the needs of the client. While focusing on creating a warm, empathic, safe space that is nonjudgmental and where clients can process and heal, Jackie employs various therapeutic approaches including Rogerian, cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic and psychoeducational.

Jackie has provided presentations on bullying, anxiety, and stress management with students from ages 12-18. She also held college advising workshops for parents and students at a local high school where she provided instruction and guidance and handled mental health crises on campus.

Jackie received her M.Ed. from the University of Maryland, College Park, and her BS from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. She taught psychology at Trinity-Byrnes Collegiate School where she served as the Director of Guidance and College Counseling. She also has worked at Hartford County Department of Social Services in Foster Care and as an Independent Living Program Coordinator for foster children; as the Administrative Director of Child Ministries Center Daycare; and as a Middle School Behavioral Health Counselor at Tri-County Mental Health in Bennettsville, SC.
