Tai Yancey is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who works with children, adolescents, adults, families, and couples. She addresses a wide range of issues, including anxiety, depression, communication problems, grief, parenting issues, trauma, women's issues, anger issues, and much more. She is sensitive to issues that may be specific to clients’ race, gender/gender identity, sexual orientation, and other cultural factors. Tai aims to help her clients develop healthy ways to cope with current and future stressors and to achieve a more peaceful state of being.
Tai utilizes an eclectic style of therapy that includes a combination of various techniques and skills depending on the client's personal situation and needs. Her primary therapeutic techniques include cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, family therapy, solution-focused brief therapy, and others depending on what is the best fit for the issue at hand. She recognizes that clients typically know themselves better than anyone else, so she always uses a client-centered approach and includes the client in the treatment process.
Tai received her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Francis Marion University in 2019. She received her B.S. in Psychology there as well. In addition to her work as a therapist at The Counseling Center of Florence, she also works at Florence-Darlington Technical College as a psychology tutor and at Francis Marion University as a mentor. As a volunteer, she has assisted homeless and low-income individuals in the community obtain the resources they need.
